Unmuted is a theatre monologue by theatre-maker Anse Lagaisse. She poignantly recounts the experiences of teenagers who face psychiatric issues and treatment.
Through the teenagers’ personal stories, Anse Lagaisse shares the ups and downs of their journey to recovery, shedding light on the fragile mental health of young people.
The theatre maker also highlights an urgent issue : the inadequate capacity of our care system. Young people with mental health problems and their parents often find too late the help they desperately need. The long waiting lists they face are a good illustration of this.
The Story Collective, in collaboration with Anse Lagaisse, wants to use these portraits, this time bundled into one story, to encourage mentally vulnerable young people. Anse talks not only about despair but also about hope. She talks not only about unhappiness but also about small sparkles of joy.
